SILOAM NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL – JINJA UGANDA ( as of 7/1/2019)

BACKGROUND:
Siloam Junior Academy was founded as one of the charity schools under Siloam African Community Outreaches – Uganda, a registered Community Faith - Based Organization (CBO) with Reg No: MAF
725 – 2018 - by Mafubira Sub county.

This program was carried out with the initiative of Pastor Peter Mabonga as Director/ Founder, after observing that the community under Siloam Community Church had a number of children ages 4-12 years who were not attending school. Most of these were orphaned and vulnerable children under the care of their grandparents and single mothers.

Siloam Junior Academy was then established on 26th January 2014 at Kainogoga with 76 pupils. Since then, the school was moved to Mauta village in 2016 where we have a permanent block fund of $100/month through the Lake Union Church in addition to the sponsor program. The current student population of 190.

Siloam Junior Academy children received playing items like balls and along with other scholastic materials at this new site in September 2018 as presented by Larry and Lynette Sherer on behalf of the church during their visit. This was very encouraging to the teachers, staff and students.

OUR SCHOOL VISION:
We raise our voice for the orphans and vulnerable children to acquire an education. Pupils are busy attending lessons in their new classroom. Siloam Junior Academy children are testing/using the two laptops donated to them for computer training effective 2019. We look forward to expanding computer accessibility with the acquisition of more donated laptops.

cherished and future dreams.

OUR MAIN CORE VALUES:
Love, care, compassion, integrity and teamwork for orphans, vulnerable/other children around the communities.

OUR SCHOOL MOTTO:
It is our passion to reach our goal.

OUR MAIN OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide affordable and high quality education to orphans, vulnerable/other children in both local and urban communities.
  • To lobby for financial assistance so that disadvantaged children can have access to quality education .
  • To establish secondary and vocational schools that shall also offer skills like catering, making liquid soap, hair dressing, carpentry , tailoring and making handcrafts among other things.
  • To sensitize parents and guardians in communities about importance of education as one of the children’ s rights and privileges.
  • To instill moral, spiritual value in the individuals and train Ugandans in a sense of participation in social and national affairs.
  • The school welcomes children of different nationalities and faiths.
  • Siloam Junior Academy was established on Christian principles and values. However, each child along with parents/guardians are respected and appreciated, regardless of religion, sex or age.

OUR MAIN CHALLENGES:

  • Food for the children and staff - We need a piece of land for planting food to meet the daily noon meal for students, teachers and staff.
  • Sponsoring of more students - Many children and their families need financial assistance with the cost of school along  with medical attentions.
  • Desks, chairs, and text books.
  • Encouragement of our teachers and staff.

We appreciate the help of Lake Union Church through monthly support and sponsoring of students. May God bless you as you continue to be the voice for these children.
